      Photos from 'The Griffith Collection'

The Griffith Collection' is an on going project by our Society involving the copying and displaying of photographs of historical interest.  The collection started in 1981 and now consists of over 7,500 photos.  We are at present indexing all the photographs.  Some of the photographs from the collection have been used for the books - Griffith & District Pioneer Families series and more recently Early Griffith & District - A Pictorial History.

A very small part of this collection will be shown here and a larger number in our Journal the Ibis Links.

Your enquiry for any photo reprints is most welcomed.

Griffith was gazetted a town on August 4, 1916.   The same year commercial

land was first purchased in Banna Avenue (Griffith business centre) and the railway arrived.
